About Us

Deeds of Kindness Outreach Services, a non-profit community based organization, serves those in the Greater Washington Metropolitan area who are in need of the essentials of life: nourishment, clothing, health and wellness services and educational materials.  We provide monthly sit-down meals (served table side), seasonal apparel for men, women, and children, connect guests with referrals and on-site health and wellness providers and informative health and wellness literature and supplies. Our community partnerships with local non-profit organizations, DC government agencies, faith-based organizations and corporations allow our guests to receive access to leading health, advocacy and social service sources.

Our mission is to inspire hope, create an open-hearted and welcoming environment, and be a beacon of light to all who enter our doors.  Through acts and deeds of kindness we are the conscience of the community.

We proudly operate in the historic edifice of First Tabernacle Beth-El, a vital part of the historic Shaw community in the Nation's Capital for over 114 years.

Non-perishable food items, clothing, blankets, and bottled water are accepted with 48 hours notice. To make monetary donations or to volunteer for an event, email us at deedsofkindness@yahoo.com for more details.

What we do may not appear unique.  How we do it most certainly is..with love, compassion and care!

LIVE. LONG. DC. is Mayor Bowser’s Strategic Plan to reduce opioid use, misuse and related deaths in our beloved city and we need to hear what the community- at-large has to say about recovery, treatment, prevention and overall wellness of residents.

The opioid crisis has hit every demographic, most families, and many friends and loved ones.  We are looking for all community voices to be heard as we collaborate on solutions.  This is an opportunity to have your point of view expressed in an open forum with various community stakeholders.  FREE NARCAN (harm reduction) training  and refreshments will be provided.

Deeds of Kindness will partner with the DC Department of Behavioral Health to provide guests with health and wellness providers from local non-profit and government entities to provide on-site navigation to recovery support, treatment options and prevention assistance.

If you are a non-profit corporation, a faith-based organization or government agency who provides services to those residents dealing with substance use disorders or if you need information on opiod use/misuse, this is the event for you.

If you in need and you wish to participant as a partner for this event or if you would like meet with us to discuss how we may assist as a volunteer, please email us at deedsofkindness@yahoo.com

Recovery Coaches are on-site and Certified Peer Specialists are always welcome to volunteer their time and expertise at any Deeds of Kindness Outreach events.

We look forward to seeing you soon at our next Community Conversation event.
